Welcome to InVogue1Day.blog.... Karen Firth

Today I want to introduce to you the newest follower of http://invogueoneday.blogspot.co.nz/
Welcome to InVogue1Day Blog!
Karen is from Canada and owns an Etsy shop as well! Please visit her wonderful shop on Etsy. If you love miniatures jewelry her shop is a must! http://www.etsy.com/shop/BiteSizeMiniatures

Please introduce yourself....

My name is Karen and I'm from Montreal, Canada. I love animals and run a little zoo of my own in my small, city home. Aside from creating miniatures, walking my dog, Truman and playing with my cats, I work part-time as a book seller and odd fiction connoisseur (or so I like to call myself  ). I also own a small clothing boutique with 2 other Montreal girls. I aspire to be a full time artist and wish to work from work as much as I can with Truman the pug as my daily co-worker.

Why miniatures?

I've always been obsessed with miniature things. I never thought it was something I could actually do. As a career, I didn't even think twice that people actually did make a living off of creating miniatures. A few months ago I found this miniature food book and figured I 'd give it a try! I loved it from the beginning and became OBSESSED with making miniature food and jewelry. I realized I was actually good at them and everything grew from there.

What made you open an Etsy shop?

My friend Vanessa owns her own Etsy shop, Scribbles and Shots. She's an amazing photographer and I had helped her set up her account and promote her shop. It was a lot of fun and I knew I would eventually love to open my own shop. With her encouragement, I finally decided to put my products online and was lucky enough to get my first sale within my first month!

You are a boutique owner, (congrats)...Can you give any advise on how to run a successful boutique?

Owning two businesses (this one and my Montreal boutique), I've learnt that customer service is #1. My boutique and, so far, Etsy shop, have been thriving off of good customer service. People will come back if they enjoy their experience. Also, with my boutique and Etsy, repetitive and constant advertisement is key. Keep advertising and don't be shy! If you make a product you can wear, wear it out and keep business cards on you. If anyone comments on your item, hand out a card and tell them to come see your shop!

What made you follow my blog?

What honestly made me follow your blog? The Manolo Girl T-Shirt blog entry!! It caught my attention, I loved it and I just read on after that. I love your posts on fashion related things and I love your Etsy finds!

It's impossible to pick a favorite piece in her shop since they all look amazing! Croissants, donuts, baguettes, etc....

All I can say is stylish yum!
Stay original!

Enjoy the blog,  Karen!

I'm just now getting to checking a whole week's worth of email, and I decided to take a little break and visit blogs instead! I'm happy to be your newest follower, and I'm glad you found my blog and followed it! =)
